Engenheiros Sem Fronteiras – São Paulo Chapter was founded in 2015 by young people who believed in promoting human and sustainable development through engineering. It was created within the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade de São Paulo (POLI-USP) by a group of students who met the organization in other countries. The union of the will to change with the technical expertise of the group resulted in maturation. Today, it acts independently maintaining a partnership with the institution through the Poli Cidadã Program. Currently it has 12 effective members and 26 collaborating members, from the most diverse backgrounds and experiences. A team composed of undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students and trained professionals allows the consolidation of multidisciplinary teams and a rich exchange of knowledge.
The initiatives they conduct at São Paulo Chapter go beyond conventional engineering projects and works, developing educational activities with students from public schools, dialoguing with communities for the promotion of the right to the city and always attentive to new possibilities that may arise.
Its performance is consolidated in 2 programs:
1) Sustainable School: performance in public schools in the city and the metropolitan region, leading students to environmental sustainability through approximation to nature, free and autonomous education, healthy eating, care for the environment, applying participative and active pedagogy to students and their families;
2. Projecting Dreams: developing architectural and engineering projects for institutions and/or people in vulnerable situations, working together with those involved in the search for the best solutions, aiming at quality of life, promoting the health and safety of spaces and the balance of results with the urban and social environment.
Throughout our history, the group has been performing voluntary work for social transformation through technical, academic and educational projects, having reached more than 1,000 people in various regions of the city of São Paulo.
