Governador Valadares Chapter was founded in 2015 by students from the Instituto Federal de Minas Gerais (IFMG). Since then, they have sought to use engineering to promote the social and sustainable development of the local community. Today there are more than 15 volunteers among the city’s diverse educational institutions.

Besides the development of projects within IFMG, such as the Low Cost Solar Heater, they also do projects aimed at the local community, one of them was executed within public schools, in which the volunteers taught environmental education to elementary school children.

The development of community oriented projects is very important, because they can notice the effect of the activities on people’s lives. Their projects have already directly impacted over 2000 people, including courses, social campaigns and lectures.
